WAWA is an online database bringing together women+ artists living in Berlin from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Turkey, and Palestine who have experienced displacement, and forced or willing relocation.

By women+ we refer to anyone who identifies as one: we stand against systems that marginalize and impose normative categories of gender and sexual binaries, embracing intersectional identifications.

Funded by the Neustart Soziokultur Fund this archive’s goal is the creation, indexation and distribution of information on women+ artists based in Berlin, and/or artists who transnationally create in between Berlin and other localities, including their place of origin.

The archive will serve as a platform through which collaboration among these women+ will be possible, serving as a space to create discussions, seminars and workshops on displacement, feminisms and queer approaches. The Project will be completed in December 2022.
